This budget includes the main categories of expenses: housing, transportation, food, health, and leisure. Naturally, every student’s experience is unique, and these amounts may vary depending on your lifestyle, housing type, and personal consumption habits.
Our goal is to offer you a realistic and transparent overview, so that you can organize your arrival and settle in with confidence, aligned with your financial situation and personal priorities.

Insurance
If you are a non-European student, we strongly recommend that you obtain international travel insurance, civil liability insurance, and international health insurance for the full duration of your stay in France.
If you are a European student, be sure to bring your valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with you.
Health insurance in France may differ significantly from what you are used to in your home country. Requirements and procedures vary depending on the length of your stay, your age, your country of origin, and whether you are enrolled as a full-time student. For detailed information, please visit the Campus France website.
CVEC – Student and Campus Life Contribution
Students admitted to a higher education institution in France must pay the CVEC (Contribution de Vie Étudiante et de Campus).
The CVEC applies to both French and international students enrolled in a degree-granting program at a public or private higher education institution in France.
The current amount of the CVEC is €103 per academic year and can be paid online. For more details, please consult the Campus France website.
Visa
If you are a non-European Union student and wish to join ESPÉ for a program lasting more than three months, you will need to apply for a student visa. Some nationalities also require a visa for short stays.
We recommend that you first consult the official France Visas website, and then submit your application to the French embassy or consulate in your country of residence, ideally at least three months before your planned arrival.
The process may vary depending on your nationality. For personalized and up-to-date information, refer to the Campus France website or the website of the French consulate or embassy in your country.

For stays longer than three months
In general, if you plan to stay in France for more than three months, you must obtain a long-stay student visa before arriving.
You must submit your visa application to the French embassy or consulate in your country of residence at least three months before departure. Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in France.
In some cases, you may need an additional entry visa to enter France, depending on your country of origin. Please check with the nearest French embassy or consulate to see if your country is on the list.
Entry Visa for Certain Countries
In some cases, you may need an additional entry visa to enter France, depending on your country of origin. Please check with the nearest French embassy or consulate to see if your country is on the list.
Note: Residents of EU countries, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and San Marino do not need an entry visa.
If You Decide to Stay Longer in France
If you choose to stay in France beyond the period authorized by your student visa, you may apply for a residence permit.
This situation may arise if your degree program lasts longer than your student visa (over one year), or if you find an internship or job in France after your visa period ends.
Please consult the Campus France website for more information.
You must go to the prefecture to apply for a residence permit within two months of your student visa’s expiration date.
